Why Video Marketing Could Be The Answer For Your Online Network Marketing Business

There’s no lack of strategies you can use to build your online network marketing business, but in today’s post let’s look at why video marketing in particular may be a lead generation method you’ll want to add to your marketing arsenal. And I’m especially thinking of video marketing on YouTube.

In my experience video is one of the most powerful strategies out there, and I’ll tell you why in a minute.

But before we get to that, let’s briefly look at the two different options you have when it comes to your YouTube marketing strategy.

Two Ways To Do Online Network Marketing With YouTube Videos

On YouTube you can do paid or free video marketing, or both. The free way to do it is to optimize your videos using keywords that get a lot of traffic (meaning lot people search on them on either YouTube or on Google). Quality back links also plays a vital role in getting your videos to rank.

A fun tool you can use to create videos using music, photos and film clips is Animoto.com. Vimeo, where as you can see this particular video has been uploaded, is a video hosting site similar to YouTube.

Views, “likes”, shares and comments don’t make much of a difference when it comes to getting your videos to rank, but are important social proof that your videos are worth watching.

The paid way is to run video ads on YouTube through a Google Adwords account. This is free to set up – you only pay when your ads get clicked on.

(Keep in mind that when using YouTube ads you’re still targeting keywords. Be sure to watch my video above where I go into more details on this.)

Why video marketing is also for the camera shy

I find that the reason why video marketing is being utilized by so few in the online network marketing industry is that people are afraid to do it. They think they won’t be any good at it.

But the only answer is to face your fears and take the plunge. Your first several videos probably won’t be that great (neither were mine!), but with each one you do you’ll get better. Trust the process.

Now, if you do come to the conclusion that “traditional” video marketing is not your strong area, remember you can also do videos where you don’t put yourself on camera – such as tutorials where you do a screen share or use a power point presentation. Neither requires much technical know-how.

Ideally, you should do a variety: Do some videos where you’re on camera, some video tutorials, and some screen shares. This will create more diversity in your marketing, and therefore make you more interesting to viewers.

Tools & tips for building your online network marketing business with video.

To make sure you target keywords that get sufficient search volume yet aren’t too competitive, it’s critical you use an effective keyword research tool. I personally use Market Samurai, which I think is phenomenal.

In my course “Her Success Blueprint” I talk in more detail about how to create attention grabbing videos.

To shoot video tutorials or screen shares, I recommend a user friendly software called Camtasia. Another tool you can use for this is Jing (free for videos under 5 minutes).

To edit your videos, you can use Movie Edit Pro for PCs. Macs come with editing software built in. You can also do simple editing within YouTube itself after you upload your video, and this may in fact be sufficient:

Delivering valuable content and acting natural and believable on camera is more important than fancy intros with hip music and moving imagery.

The #1 Reason Why Video Marketing Rocks

Okay, so back to the question that we started out with, of why video marketing is so powerful.

It’s powerful because the leads you generate with this strategy are highly responsive. And by this we mean that they’ll convert more easily to sales. Here’s why:

Your prospects were “introduced” to you the minute they played your video. And they did after all opt in and became a lead in your sales funnel, so it’s obvious that you’ve got something that resonates with them.

Unlike a lot of other advertising where your prospect doesn’t get acquainted with you until they’re much deeper into your funnel – maybe not until they start getting your auto responder messages where you “sign off” with your name, photo, and links to social media sites – with video marketing there’s an instant connection.

This is why video marketing is such a killer strategy for generating leads for your online network marketing business. I’ve found it to be a powerful ice breaker that builds trust almost instantly.

  1. It’s weird…I actually want to be famous worldwide, but yet I hardly ever do video. I think it’s because I am just not in the habit of doing it. I will put the video section in Her Success Blueprint in my to do lis for tomorrow because the thing is…I’m not camera shy at ALL. In fact, I’m a super goof on camera. Hmm…if I can punch out a video every day for the next 30 days I will be happy…OO and it will all lead up to my birthday on november 30! Well…now that I just brainstormed out loud, time to write out what I want to work on for tomorrow onward!! YAY!

Brainstorming out loud is a great way to come up with new ideas! ;) Now, all you got do is take action, as you correctly pointed out… Congrats on your prize btw…my office will be emailing you this weekend.

  2. I am looking forward to your webinar tonight Lena on this very subject… I am a novice at video marketing but your reasons to go ahead and do it make so much sense. I also love Eric’s tip above.

I have had a topic for months I wanted to “vlog” on but was stuck on which way to do it (on camera or power-point video). I think I just need to DO IT and worry less about the how! :-)

Thanks Lena for another thought-provoking post!

A possible tip for people that are shy about making their own videos is to find a short video they like and try to emulate it. Create their own version. It will likely still be poor, at first. But you can do it again (and again) until it feels more natural. You will be able to more clearly see what you need to work on in your on-camera personality or approach so that you can be more like the person you are trying to emulate. Just a thought. Another great post Lena.
