In my small coaching group that I conduct for a few qualified consultants, we are currently working on taking risks.
The assignment is to take one risk every day, one very specific step of action, until next week’s meeting.
Calling leads, speaking up on a conference call, putting yourself on camera for a video campaign, daring to be outspoken in a blog post…Whatever risk means to you…
(And yes, in case you are wondering, I am indeed leading the way by taking risks of my own each and every day…but that’s a topic for another blog post…maybe, lol.)
The whole point with the exercise is to get into the habit of stepping outside your comfort zone so as to never stop growing.
Because if you don’t grow, your business won’t grow.
Taking risks is absolutely essential to your success in this industry.
For one, if you want to get ahead, if you want to rise to the top in a “dog-eat-dog” industry where ultimately only the strong survive…well, then you had better get used to taking a few more risks than the guy or gal next to you.
Start doing what most people are not willing to do. Only then will you have what most people will never have.
In fact, I’ll go as far as to say that if you are willing to take risks, success is certain.
Another thing: the home business/network marketing industry is – as any good student of attraction marketing or Magnetic Sponsoring would know – all about leadership. Everyone is looking for a leader to follow.
Not a company. Not a product. Not a comp plan. But a leader.
It’s also true that all great leaders have certain character traits in common… Such as integrity, being commited to excellence, having a big vision, having the ability to empower others to success…
Another such quality is the ability to INSPIRE.
It’s when you, as that leader, make the difficult choices, continuously challenge yourself, demonstrate courage, take action in spite of your fears, and pick yourself back up every time you fall, that you truly inspire the people around you: You give them hope.
They become attracted to you. They follow you. They want to work with you.
Not because you’re so skilled.
Not because you’re such a great speaker.
Not because you know so much.
But because you are a source of inspiration for them.
They want to work with you not because of what you DO but because of who you ARE. Or, even more accurately, because of who you inspire them to BE.
So…as you can see, taking risks is really not optional if you want to make it as a marketer.
