Successful MLM Recruiting…The Real Secret

What I’m going to unpack for you today is a fool proof three-step formula for successful MLM recruiting. BUT you must include all three ingredients in the mix – if you miss just one, it won’t work AT ALL.

Also, not for a moment do I want you to think this is a “quick fix” for your business. MLM recruiting can only be done effectively when you first commit to working on your mindset and your skill sets, so as to grow into the person others will actually WANT to follow.

That being said, in today’s post, I want to show you what I consider to be the REAL secret to successful MLM recruiting

My Very Own Success Recipe

To establish some credibility before I start out, I want to quickly mention that these MLM recruiting strategies are the very techniques I have used to personally recruit several hundred members to my own team from 20 countries across the world.

But I’m not going to give you my MLM recruting script (I don’t have one), any “magical words” or any other nonsense. Rather, what this post is about is…drum roll, please… mindset.

Now, before you yawn or get ready to exit this page, let me assure you that this stuff is uber practical, and the principles are universal and applicable to any network marketing opportunity. Best of all, they produce real results when you implement them.

So…let’s get to it, shall we?

MLM Recruiting Secret #1: Value Comes First

To succeed with MLM recruiting you must LEAD with VALUE.

Put yourself in your prospect’s shoes for a minute…why would they want to sign up with you if all you have to offer them is a sales pitch? (Gag.)

Another thing is that the way they see you go about trying to sponsor people is how they’ll think they will have to do their MLM recruiting if they join you. And I can assure you, they don’t like to pitch anymore than you do!

Your prospects are looking for solutions. And so you have to be able to demonstrate to them that you in fact have something that can help them.

And I don’t mean you should demonstrate that your products or opportunity are going to help them…not yet.

Of course a product demonstration should be part of your sales funnel…but that’s all on the “back end”.

If you’re talking to prospects about your products or biz opp “cold”, you’ll fail at MLM recruiting.

No, you first have to EARN the right to sell to your prospect. (Your upline can call it “sharing” all they want, but the reality is that any time you talk to prospects about your products and opportunity, you’re in reality “selling”).

There’s nothing wrong about selling, but it’s a right you must EARN by first offering your prospects value. Value as in solutions, help, tools and training. For free.

As an example, in the photo right above I’m training on the topic of video marketing. Giving value builds trust and credibility, and it’s something you, too, need to do if you are to succeed with MLM recruiting.

MLM Recruiting Secret #2: You Gotta Be The Leader

Your prospects are secretly looking for a leader to folow. We all are. Which is why, to do MLM recruiting successfully, you need to be able to demostrate leadership skills.

One way to do this is to have posture – which essentially means you write and speak with authority. Also, when you guide, teach and train, you are being a leader.

This doesn’t mean you have to “know it all” or be a Marketing Superstar in order for your prospects to see you as a leader. You just need to be more of an expert than they are. And the good thing is that there’s always someone out there that knows less than you!

Remember also that the more you raise the bar on yourself, the more you can also raise the bar on your prospects. The more qualified you are, the more qualifed your prospects will be – because you’ll always attract people that are like you.

MLM Recruiting Secret #3: Sincerity Is Everything

The fact that you need to be sincere may seem obvious. But the truth is that a lot of folks who think they got this one down in reality don’t.

You’ll only succeed with MLM recruiting when you’re able to take your focus completely off yourself. You have to genuinely and sincerely care more about your prospect’s needs than your own.

Trust me – your prospects will pick up on this!

Which is why, even if you have tremendous value to offer and you have developed your leadership skills to perfection, if you are really most concerned about yourself and your success…you’ll never get good at MLM recruiting.

On the ohter hand, when your prospects can look into your eyes – be that by means of a photo, a video, on a video call, or in person at a live event – and they know, I mean really know in their gut that you’re the real deal, they’ll go from “cold lead” to pre-sold customer in a flash.

Because, think about it…

How can someone NOT want to work with you when 1) you have tremendous value to offer, 2) you are the leader figure they’re been looking for, AND 3) you also honestly care about their success?

You can’t possibly ask for more in a sponsor, right?!

If you’ve “got” these three, you’re going to attract sales ready prospects to your business like bees to a jar of honey…I mean it.

But again, remember that it’s the combination of the three that is so powerful. Any two of the ingredients are worthless without the third.

Also, as I said at the beginning of this post, you have to be sooo commmited to continousy working on yourself and your own mindset and skill sets in order to do well with MLM recruiting.

The good news is that the more value you have to offer, the stronger of a leader you are, and the more you’re able to remove yourself and your own needs from the equation, the more people you’re going to be able to bring into your business – and that with less and less effort on your part. :)

  1. Hey Lena, I love this comment you made:

Your upline can call it “sharing” all they want, but the reality is that any time you talk to prospects about your products and opportunity, you’re in reality “selling””

It doesn’t matter what name you give it, it’s still the same thing. Changing the name doesn’t change the nature of the thing itself. So better to learn the skill then change the name.

    Blue Skies,
    Jeff

    Hi LENA;

Thank you so much for the above guidance. They are so important yet it is so easy to over look them, and make the pitch. Value, leadership and sincerity. Thank you Lena. Thank you so much.

Loooove the way you signed off, Gary…”rhino”! I know what that’s referring to… ;) And thanks for the feedback!

    Thanks, Lena.
I like the way you express your role as a person that desires to help people by being a sincere leader who wants to give value to others. That’s exactly what you did. I appreciate you!

  5. Terri says:

    Hi Lena,
This article is so well timed for me. Thank you so much for sharing your words of wisdom.
I have just started working my mlm business full time. I have a ton of prospects but struggle with conversion. I know I am the variable. I spend 30 minutes a day on personal development to get better at communication. It definitely helps in some ways when I am communicating with prospects, but you are making me wonder if I am too friendly. My daughter keeps telling me to stop trying to be everyone’s friend in my business and keep my calls business-like.
I have some calls ahead of me today. I am going to implement the tips here in your article, record myself, and see if I can detect the qualities you are suggesting.
    Thank you!
    Have a great day!
    Terri

    • Lena Bjorna says:

Hi Terri. Yes it may be that you are being too friendly. One of my very successful mentors taught me “way back when” that you are never to try to be your prospect’s friend. They are not looking for a friend; they’re looking for a leader… Would love to know how your calls went!

  6. Selena says:

love it Lena and working on all three of them. I am still waiting for any details to come through about your affiliate programme? I filled in the form but then have heard nothing – I want to recommend you! Have a great weekend Selena
