One of the big secrets to having success with MLM is to develop a mindset of servant leadership. Of course, serving and leading your customers and reps is a big part of it…
But what I want to focus on this post is something that perhaps is a bit less obvious, namely how making yourself available to serve those who are in a position to HELP YOU can greatly increase your chances of success with MLM.
Truth is, when you do, and you do it selflessly, doors can begin to open like never before…
To Achieve Success With MLM: Stop Looking For Favors And Start Making Yourself Useful
So many folks in this industry approach those that hold positions of influence with a “gimme” attitude, expecting to get something from them. Free products/free phone time/free exposure/free advice…you name it.
Well, that’s not how success with MLM is achieved. If you’re coming to industry leaders looking for favors, you’re going to blend nicely in with everyone else that’s doing the exact same thing, and no one will ever take notice.
Rather, the way to achieve success with MLM is to do the except opposite of what most people do – namely to make yourself useful to those with influence…
How Crystal got on the fast-track to success with MLM.
I like to use real-life examples whenever I can, so let’s revisit Crystal’s story.
Crystal, as you may know – I wrote about her in a recent post – won a contest and got a lot of free exposure this way, which again helped put her name on the map.

But here’s something you may not know, as I didn’t mention this in my other post:
The industry Leader whose contest Crystal won, had just come out with a course that taught you how to create your own product, and he then ran the particular contest where his students were to use what they’d learned in the course to create their own product.
When Crystal won the contest, here’s the message it sent to the world: “Look at these amazing things I learned from Mr. XYZ’s course…I used what I learned to create my own product, in fact, I did such a good job at it that I won 1st price in this contest! I’m a success because of Mr. XYZ’s course!”
She demonstrated that the Leader’s product delivered. And because she was now making both of them money, she suddenly found her story being part of Mr. XYZ’s promotional campaign for his course!
How Dean and Mary went from “no-names” to “rising stars”.
Here’s another example of how servant leadership can lead to success with MLM: In our MLSP community we have a married couple named Dean and Mary.
Last year, while still “nobodies”, Dean and Mary began to serve by taking on the task of being responsible for introductions on training calls.

Someone else might have thought this task was beneath them, but not Dean and Mary. They humbly committed.
And one thing led to another: Before they knew it, they weren’t just taking intros, they were also regularly training on calls and webinars for our MLSP community!
Dean and Mary’s new-found visibility again helped boost their credibility: Increasingly more prospects began to turn to them for guidance and joined them in their business.
Suddenly they were getting results, and their dreams of success with MLM had become a reality.
There are so many other examples I could share with you…
Examples of how making yourself useful to someone in a position of influence can help you achieve success with MLM… But – as you look for ways to apply this to your own business – the main point I want you to take away is this: Be looking for ways to be noticed for the right things.
Not by trying to shout louder than everyone else, but by 1) delivering exceptional value, 2) being willing to serve where others are not, and 3) stepping outside your comfort zone and being a leader.
More than anything, look for opportunities to make the other party money. If you make them money, is there a chance they’ll pay attention? Uhum, ya think…? ;)
So yes, OFFER to be of service. When you do, and you simultaneously work on all the other areas of your business – honing your marketing and leadership skills – your chances of having success in MLM will increase a hundred-fold.

Thats a great post Lena, Powerful example, Just like Think and Grow rich by Napoleon Hill,Good stuff
Always good to hear from you Leo! Hope the emails are coming through okay, now!
I’ve never read a post like this before, very clever.
I think it’s important that you care about people, otherwise what’s the point of you being in business.
Lena,
Thanks for posting this. I couldn’t agree more. Having a “servant” attitude not only helps others but helps YOU as a business owner.
The leaders I follow have that attitude. I will not follow those who have an obvious agenda… Why would I want to work with people who only want to help themselves?
The irony: the by-product of someone who gives/serves is more followers. More followers=more leads=more list subscribers=more potential income. It’s a win-win all around! Plus it is really nice to know you’re helping others on your journey! :-)
As I got out of some mentors “Give the best for them (prospect) and they will give you the feedback you did not expect beforehand”
There was not much aware of the power of ‘giving’ … But the result was unexpected ….. Incredible!!
Thank you Lena ….
Your messages are truly inspiring and I know that I am not the only one learning and being encouraged by you. People who speak
(or write) from their heart – and who lead by serving – are people who inspire others to follow. What better way to grow than to follow someone who you know is blessed with a sincere heart to give, serve and help others. “GOD loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7)
