Many MLM’ers who use Attraction Marketing mistakenly believe that all they have to do to make money marketing is give value. They think that as long as they’re charismatic and leader-like, and offer enough fabulous training, the sales will automatically come.
It’s true that giving value and being a leader will help you attract followers. But the entire purpose of attracting those people is to give you an opportunity to sell to them – right?
Let’s look at how to REALLY make money marketing your products and services…
To Make Money Marketing, You’ve Got To Master This One Other Skill…
“You only make money marketing when you do one single thing, namely take an order,” he said. “People WANT to be led. And part of leading is telling them what to do next: apply, purchase the start up kit, take a test drive, and so on.”
Did you catch that?
What he’s saying is that to make money marketing you have to be able not just to attract people, but to CLOSE them.
And in order to close them you have to tell them what to do, in no uncertain terms! This can be uncomfortable for some.
It sure was for me… Until, I’m happy to say, I was able to rid myself of my self-limiting beliefs, and step up to the plate and be the leader my prospects were looking for.
Of course, the traditional way to close sales is to spend time on the phone, taking orders.
Another option (the one I personally prefer) is to get the order-taking to happen on your website, on autopilot. In this case you’ll need to give your prospect a clear, concise step of action, something specific to do next, just as you would on the phone.
Your auto responder messages (automated follow-up emails) should be doing the same: They should be giving value, but in your messages you should also be asking for the sale. If not in every single email, certainly in the majority of them.
You need to give a strong, direct call to action, making it crystal clear to your prospect what you want them to do.
“Apply here”. “Click here to place your order”. “Get started here”…and so on.
You should expect to have to make phone calls until you have built a strong enough Internet presence and until your sales funnel is so personalized, so value driven, and builds so much trust that phone calls are superfluous.
But yes, in reality none of us actually make money marketing (unless, of course, we’re hired to do a job where we get paid to market) – we make money when sales are closed. And for starters, sales will be closed by you talking to people.
You still should have some sort of qualification process that your prospects have to go through before they get to talk to you. This is essential if you don’t want to waste time with all the wrong people. (I talk more about this in my popular report, “The 1% Formula”. You can learn more about this and my other products HERE.)
One thing you can also do is make your phone number easily visible on your websites, in your auto responders, and in all personal correspondence.
Better to receive phone calls from interested leads than having to make them! ;)
When you start receiving calls from prospects, feel free to do a little victory dance.
Because this usually signifies a turning point in a person’s business: You’re now doing such a good job marketing that people actually want to talk to you!
So again, to sum it up, whether you are reaching out to qualifed prospects, prospects are calling you, or your funnel and online presence does all the “talking” for you, remember this:
Placing ads is never enough. Having thousands of fans on Facebook isn’t enough either. In fact, merely talking to people isn’t even enough!
The only way to make money marketing is by actually making sales. And to make a sale, you have to actually take an order…!
