Today, let’s look at how to use free press releases to maximize your results in your MLM opportunity.
Press releases fall into the category of “content marketing” and is a terrific way to help build your online presence while at the same time generating leads for your MLM opportunity. But your press releases will be most effective if they are not about your MLM.
Uh, say that again?
Ha-ha, hang tight, I’ll show you what I mean in a second…
Marketing Your MLM Opportunity With Press Releases
In the ideal world you would be using paid strategies like pay-per-click (PPC), banners and solo ads to produce the leads you need to build your MLM opportunity to momentum.
This, because paid strategies will almost always give you a more instant and consistent lead flow.
Content marketing – such as press releases, blog posts, articles and videos – as well as social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube & LinkedIn) should be used primarily to “work” your list of leads that you’re generating with your paid strategies.
In other words, the primary purpose of content marketing and social media is to help build trust and credibility so that you can see your leads turn into actual sales for your MLM opportunity.
“What is a press release and what should I write about?”
Great question! A press release relates an event and it’s of newsworthy nature, and should always be written in the third person.
When done correctly and used effectively, press releases can make you look like a true expert in the eyes of your prospect and give you a lot of credibility.

But, as I pointed out already, your press releases should NOT be your MLM opportunity.
This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t mention your MLM opportunity in your press releases but the main character of the story still needs to be you. Think of yourself as a reporter, writing about yourself in third person.
Here’s an example: Say your company conducts a convention in Phoenix that you attend, and you decide to write a press release about the event.
Most network marketers will write from this angle: {Your MLM Opportunity/Company} holds leadership conference in Phoenix, Arizona.
The right angle is: {Your Name} attends leadership conference held by {Your MLM Opportunity/Company} in Phoenix, Arizona.
The first example promotes the company, the second promotes you, the leader. See the difference?
Your prospects want to connect with you, not your MLM opportunity.
Make sure you always keep this in mind – when writing your press releases, too!
You can certainly write on newsworthy topics where you are not a participant in the story at all, but keep in mind that with press releases, as with the rest of your marketing, the more you can make your prospect comfortable with YOU, the easier the sale will happen.
So if at all possible use your press releases to get your prospects to know you.
A few more examples:
{YOUR NAME} slated to attend MLSP “Live The Dream” event in Dallas, Texas.
{YOUR NAME} partners up with {OTHER PERSON’S NAME} to create mastermind group.
{YOUR NAME} launches a new blog /YouTube channel /Facebook page /eBook, etc., etc.
Again you want to build your brand rather than your company’s brand. Also, as you can see, the news doesn’t have to be of “groundbreaking” nature. Small news are news, too. It just needs to be relevant to your business.
“How do I use keywords in my press releases?”
Use highly trafficked keywords – though not too competitive – in the press release headline, the first sentence of the body, and the tags. (I use a fabulous tool called Market Samurai for all my keyword research, and I highly recommend you check it out.)
In addition you should have a 2% or so keyword density throughout the body of the content.

Not sure what all this means? Simply go to Google.com, type in your specific questions (i.e. “what does keyword density mean?” or “what are tags?”), and Google will direct you to some helpful articles and forums!
What about using your own name as a keyword for some of your press releases? Sure, you can do that!
There may not be a whole lot of people searching on your name on Google at this point, but down the line there will be. So, yes, using your own personal name is a good idea.
You want to have content out on the Internet that builds credibility.
That being said, don’t write around your own name exclusively or you’ll get very little traffic to your press releases.
When using your name as a keyword, I recommend targeting a second keyword phrase as well with he same press release, one that more people search on – perhaps the name of your MLM opportunity or company if it isn’t trademarked and as long as it gets enough search volume. (Market Samurai has training on all this.)
In my example above,”{YOUR NAME} slated to attend MLSP “Live The Dream” event in Dallas, Texas”, {YOUR NAME} is one keyword phrase (gets little traffic), “MLSP” is the second (more traffic).
“My press release is finished…now what?”
First of all, give yourself a big pat on the back! Well done! :D

Okay, so in addition to submitting your press release to press release distribution sites, you’re going to want to “share” your press release on Facebook and other social media (the press release site will have “social media share buttons” you can use for this).
And if you already have some leads, be sure to send an email broad cast to your leads to let them know about your new press release!
Not only does this help build trust and credibility with your existing leads but it also generates more views of your press release, which can help towards Google rankings. Google favors popular, relevant content.
As your list grows, the more essential it will be to “work” your list this way in order to create commotion around your content.
