How To Come Up With Fresh, Exciting Content For Your MLM Blog

How do you find fresh, new content for your MLM blog on an ongoing basis? A lot of network marketers seem to be having a real challenge with this…finding something to write about.

If this applies to you, take heart. In today’s post I want to see if I can give you a few tips that can help you come up with content for your MLM blog more easily.

Why It’s So Hard To Find Content For Your MLM Blog

I think what causes a lot of the frustration is that so many bloggers don’t know who they’re writing to or for. And when it comes to blogging, no matter what industry you’re in, you can’t be everything to all people. If you try to do that you’ll end up becoming nothing to no one.

Another common misconception is that the distributor thinks their MLM blog is supposed to be about their products or their company. No wonder they so quickly run out of interesting topics!

That being said, let me share with you what is in my experience the most effective way to come up with value driven new content for your MLM blog on a regular basis.

Figure out who your ideal prospect is.

It’s easiest to market to people who are like yourself. When you know them, you can address their needs and wants more accurately.

One of my target markets that I’ve had great success with are struggling MLMrs. When struggling MLMrs realize that I used to have the same challenges as them, and that I therefore can relate to their situation, they more easily trust me.

Because I know their challenges by personal experience, I can also address those problems, and provide them with solutions, so much more effectively.

So ask yourself, “Who, specifically, do I want to target with my MLM blog?” Stay at home moms? “Offline” network marketers wanting to learn how to market on the Internet? Professionals building their business part time around their job?

Is your focus personal development? Leadership? Social media marketing? Strategies for those building their business on a shoe string budget?

Just remember to always speak with one voice, and to one person. Always have one person in mind as you write – namely your ideal prospect.

Understand the purpose of your MLM blog.

Your MLM blog is not supposed to be about your opportunity. In reality, your prospects aren’t looking for an MLM to join – they’re looking for a leader to follow. You may have heard me say that before.

But did you know that your MLM blog is also the center of your online presence and therefore critical to building credibility with your leads?

Now, if what prospects see when they land on your MLM blog are photos of shakes and juices or glossy stock images of happy couples on the beach with their laptops, you’re not building trust. Your blog is just another pitchy MLM blog, and it says nothing about the person behind it.

People relate to the faces and names of other people – real people – not to pictures of products or commercialized images of stock models throwing $100 bills in the air.

Now that you understand your blog is really about how you, the leader, can serve your prospect, do you see how you suddenly have so many more options when it comes to content?

Find A Problem, And Solve It – That’s The Formula!

As a marketer and leader, your task is to solve people’s problems.

So now that you’ve determined your target market and therefore also know what your MLM blog is about, your next task is to find out what your target market’s challenges are and how you can best solve them.

In order to do this effectively you need to know your market intimately. Which again means you need to immerse yourself in training:

Read books, study other people’s blogs, visit forums where your prospects hang out, attend marketing webinars and conference calls, plow through your MLSP training archives, engage in conversations with other networkers both online, over the phone and face-to-face.

And of course attend live events!

The more you do of all this, the easier it will be to get ideas for content for your MLM blog.

Specific problems you can address with your MLM blog.

Say, as an example, that you are targeting struggling network marketers. Some of their challenges may be –

  • Not having enough leads

  • Rejection from family and friends

  • Not making enough money

  • Attrition in their teams

  • Customers not staying on auto shipment

  • Prospects not showing up for appointments

  • Not knowing how to come up with content for their MLM blog ;)

  •

Whatever the topic of your post happens to be, I recommend you start out by briefly presenting the problem, and then in the rest of your post, seek to provide a solution to it. (Follow the same strategy with articles and videos.)

Provide your prospects with some helpful tips and ideas for how to overcome their challenges. And, very important, only cover one topic in each post.

Specific ideas for your MLM blog posts.

To help you get going, here are some specific ideas for your MLM blog:

  • Share something from a book you’ve read. Even better – relate it to a personal experience or share the results you got from implementing what you learned.

  • Share your personal experience with something highly relevant to your target market:

Mentoring, calling leads, increasing productivity, building a business around children, dealing with information overload, the value of self education, the use of social media in one’s business…
  • Share your notes from a marketing webinar or a live event you attended.
  • Write a review of a generic product like, say, “Her Success Blueprint” or “Magnetic Sponsoring”, and be sure to include your affiliate link at the end of the post together with a call to action for your reader to purchase the product.
  •

Learn something, then pass it on.

To start an MLM blog, you have to know something, but you don’t have to know a lot. Put on your leader hat and take action – that’s the important thing.

Remember, even if you’re new, there’s always someone out there who knows less than you and can benefit from your insights!

You do not have to have results in order to start an MLM blog – that’s another misconception. Take the focus off yourself and what you feel you may be lacking, and focus instead on your prospect and how you can give them value.

Look at yourself as a trainer. Learn something, then pass it on.

Often your simplest ideas can be the very ones that help someone else move forward in their business!

All the best with your blogging! :)

PS: When creating content for your MLM blog, it’s essential to do proper keyword research – otherwise, no one’s gonna find your blog posts when they search on Google! I highly recommend you check out Market Samurai, a fantastic tool that I myself use religiously any time I do keyword research. You can take a free test drive here.

    1. Many bloggers are so focused to their offerings that they almost forgot those who buy their offerings — their customers. Customers need solutions. If you put relevant info in your content, you build trust and credibility. The more you put more top quality content, you build trust in long-term.

    2. I’d like to add something, and it goes in conjunction with Learn Something and Pass it on…

I’m taking a couple of classes in college again. YUP, I’m 30, but I’m back in school. I’m taking a typing class to get better at typing and in turn get better at typing on my blog and writing articles and content. AND, I am taking a psychology class taught by a psychologist. I’ll be taking the best of the best psychology notes and putting them up on my blog linked to this post. Our last class on Tuesday was about ATTRACTION. And wow, I came up with content for 4 articles from that one class alone. It is worth taking a business class in college if you have not. I never did before this; I always took music classes (and unfortunately, music performance classes teach you NOTHING about business, and very little about leadership) even though I learned them in a conservatory.

      So, there’s my two cents.

I have one more tip…and I shouldn’t give it away but I will anyway. I learned it from internet marketer (and my personal high school friend) Adam Holland: Watch the news, take notes and blog. Look at magazines and newspapers and blog. ANYTHING that already has content can give you content to write about, you just need to be savvy about it!! Here’s a topic you can write about: How to be a better leader than Obama! I mean, right there, you have a controversial topic and BAMM you can write about leadership in one masterful stroke.
And sorry for all of you Obama lovers reading this but then again, if you love Obama but you’re in business for yourself, I wonder how in the world you can say you aren’t scared of him. But that’s another topic, and if you wanna discuss it, go on my blog and comment there. :)

David, thank you for sharing so freely! Love those ideas…
And your comments are always excellent!

I also applaud you for being so committed to your own
        continuous education.

        Big blessings!

    3. I have found that most people struggle for topics to blog about. Especially, if you are blogging consistently, like you are supposed to. That day in and day out grind can be wearing to say the least. I find that I don’t always like to write posts around a keyword. More of a from the heart post. Or maybe something of interest to me. From my own personal experience, it does get easier write. In the beginning, I found that I would struggle to get 400-500 words. Now I sit and bang out 700-1000 words and I don’t even realize it. So I would say to everyone, get started. Don’t worry that every post might not be a literary masterpiece. It will get easier as you go along!

      • Lena Bjorna says:

Thank you so much for that, Richard – I’m sure it will encourage many of my readers! And yes, it really does get easier with time! =)

    4. Such a helpful post! My issue with blogging was that I always tried to make it perfect – I didnt want to miss anything, wanted it to look pretty, etc etc. By the time I was done with ONE post, I was exhausted (lol)! I still struggle with this but am much, much better. I think the perfectionist in me, albeit motivating, can be my worst enemy!

Hey – sounds like a good blog topic!!!! :-)

      • Lena Bjorna says:

It does sound like a great blog topic, Jeanine! I’m sure there are many, many others who are struggling with the same thing… Appreciate your honesty!

I sometimes find it hard to create new content for my blog.
