Their talks are jam-packed with content. They freely share their story of struggle, and sometimes you even end up getting emotional about their pain because it reminds you of your own challenges!
 
During the course of their presentation you feel like you get to know the speaker. And like them. And trust them.
 
And when you get to know them, like them and trust them – yes, you guessed it – you also BUY from them.
 
 

If you want to become a speaker – a successful one – you need to understand the concept of “value first”.

 
Professionals understand this. But, after they have delivered value, they DO ask for the sale! They close.

They send the attendees to the table in the back of the room where their books and CDs and order forms are waiting, and where assistants stand ready to take payments.
 
You may even say they have an obligation to ask for the sale – because how can you NOT give a strong call to action if your products truly are that excellent?
 
(And excellent products are all you should be selling in the first place, right?)
 
Fact is, you’ll be doing your audience a disservice if you don’t tell them to buy!
 
 

Selling is only hard if you don’t believe in your product 110%.

 
This holds true whether you’re selling from stage, on webinars, in a one-on-one conversation with someone, over the phone, or whatever the case may be.
 
But I wanted to draw attention to it in this post on speaking because it’s truly critical to get this for someone who wants to know how to become a speaker and sell from stage:
 
When you deliver value first, the sale takes care of itself because your audience is going to want to get their hands on your product to get more of that which they already had a taste of during your presentation! What’s more, you should never “feel awkward” about closing as long as you fully believe in your product.
 
And close you must: If you want to discover how to become a speaker, a profitable one, you need to set out to master both the art of giving value, and of asking for money in return.
